Why We Started Cancasa

The first time I entered an estate agent's office in the Canary Islands, it reminded me of the movie "The Sting", starring Paul Newman without the piano music.

It was comparable to a betting office where many clients had probably lost small fortunes through ill advised decisions, some without even knowing how.

Everyone seemed to be in on the game except the marks clients, and you could tell that this scenario had been played out countless times before within the premises.

There happened to be an elderly couple at another desk who were looking bewilderingly at the agent. Judging by the way the conversation was going, they seemed accepting of anything the agent had to say.

"We can handle everything for you", said the agent to his clients. "We can even arrange the unregistered lawyer and the most expensive finance for you so that you can enjoy your time here".

"Wonderful", replied the couple. "We don't know the procedure and need as much help as possible".

"That's what we're here for, to make it a living hell, nightmare, dream for you", said the agent gleefully.

I knew then that this elderly couple would be lucky if they had an incident free transaction and felt angered that I was powerless to at least warn them of the potential pitfalls and the danger of placing too much trust in agents.

This got me thinking of finding a way to help potential buyers and sellers as it seemed to me that the sector had become riddled with greed orientated characters and had lost its way in providing value for money, quality service and above all, maintaining proper ethics.

Later, a discussion ensued with some colleagues of mine where we ironed out the good and bad points of setting up a venture to counter this growing destructive force in the property service sector.

And thus, Cancasa was born!

Someone had to do it and we're happy it was us.

We're not in it for the money but for the satisfaction of providing an integrity driven service that we hope you'll grow to love and appreciate.

The image of this sector needs a drastic change and we want to play a role in that change. By using our service you'll be helping us achieve just that, making a change which will benefit both buyer and seller.

One more thing: Estate Agents are strictly prohibited from our service so if you do come across any of these critters people lurking within our territory, kindly report it to us so that we can send them back to quarantine work.
