Gran Canaria Estate Agents |
|
Caution.......
There are no true qualifications or regulatory bodies governing Gran Canaria estate agents.
The title "Estate Agent" is simply a glorified version of the term "middle man" and is merely an attempt to magically transform an unqualified individual into someone professional without any proper studies or assessment.
The vast majority of this group of people were at one time or other involved in timeshares, sales and similar vocations.
Take a look at where these industries are now and it sums up why many of them should be avoided like the plague.
Gran Canaria estate agents have spent years peddling and perfecting their trade and newcomers on the island who are unaware of the tricks, fall into the traps like lamb to the slaughter.
Gran Canaria estate agents will tell you that they can help you with the whole process, that you can just sit back and relax and allow them to do the work for you.
Many will try to convince you that they can provide legal advice and save you the money for a registered lawyer.
They may even offer you a great deal on a mortgage that is only available for their best clients.
Or that property you've fallen in love with might be lost and to secure it a deposit is necessary.
In answer to the above gimmicks used by these people; DON'T DO IT !
Best of all, some will show you all the awards they have which are not worth the paper they're printed on. We all know what they say about self praise don't we!
Never be pressured into anything, it's better to lose the property you considered purchasing than your money.
Much of the damage to you financially only becomes apparent after the money has changed hands and everyone involved gone their separate ways.
If you feel pressured into anything, simply walk away and look somewhere else.
Funds should never be handed over to Gran Canaria estate agents, that job is for your lawyer to undertake.
Take your time and do as much research as you can before considering a Gran Canaria property purchase.
One thing you should always remember is that Gran Canaria estate agents as with all others, work on commission.
They will try to sell you as many products as possible to ramp up their overall earnings from your transaction so be very aware.
Whatever you decide and whoever you deal with, always make sure you get proper independent and impartial legal advice from a registered lawyer.

** Note that this is the opinion of the Cancasa team and although we cannot discount the fact that there may be a handful of decent Gran Canaria estate agents, we would also like to stress that they are very few in number. **
